Lateral Asymmetry in Upper and Lower Limb Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis in Youth Tennis Players International Journal of Morphology

Tennis is a sport that requires asymmetric movements of dominat limbs and may lead to an asymmetric distribution of muscle mass. The main aim of the presented study was to determine the volume and degree of lateral asymmetry of the upper and lower limbs in youth tennis players using a bioelectrical impedance analysis. T-test was applied to find differences between the dominant and non-dominant arm and the right and left leg and thigh in four age categories. There were no significant differences between the right and left leg lean mass in the 12 and under, 14 and under and 16 and under age groups, but there were significant differences between the dominant and non-dominant arm lean mass and arm circumferences in all four age groups. Morphologic Bilateral Differences of Top Level Gymnasts International Journal of Morphology

Gymnastics is a basic sport, which was developed under a philosophic idea "Mens sana in corpore sano". Such an idea supposes harmonized body and soul. We can also understand under such a terminus the symmetricity of the athletic body. Aim of our investigation was to determine whether gymnast's body is symmetric. On the sample of 40 top level gymnasts (average age of 23 years) who were attending World Cup Competition in Ljubljana in the year 2000 we measured 13 anthropometric characteristics ­ joint diameters, circumferences and skinfold thicknesses on the left and right side. Reliability and Validity of NX-16 3D Body Scanner International Journal of Morphology

3D body scanning technology is nowadays widely available and used in various research on body morphology and anatomical structure. The present study investigated the reliability and validity of NX-16 (TC2) 3D body scanner with a method of classical anthropometry. Research was carried out on 31 participants (17 males and 14 females) with their age 22.1±4.63 years, their height 177.17±8.96 cm and their weight 72.36±13.6 kg. Left (L) ­ Right (R) upper arm girth, L - R elbow girth, L - R forearm girth, L - R wrist girth, L - R thigh girth, L - R knee girth and L - R calf girth were measured with a flexible and inextensible tape with a 1 mm accuracy, and with the 3D measurement technique.
